In the book when Paul’s mom and the Homeowner’s Association are having a meeting Paul interrupts them when they are talking about the stolen koi (223). He argues that the koi are being eaten by the ospreys. In one of his statements he says that he saw an osprey carrying a bright orange animal in its claws (63). This relates to koi because many of the koi are very colorful and are can be seen very clearly. This is important to the book because it helps Paul prove his point that the koi are not being stolen, but snatched up by the ospreys.
